Stuff

Some tidbits of late...

*Luke had a play date today with a friend, Nick, from school.  It seems odd to say but this was sort of his first play date in the sense that I'm not friends with the mom and I didn't stay with him.  He was very excited about it although when I explained I wouldn't be staying he seemed a bit hesitant.  I knew he was fine when he disappeared into Nick's room without saying goodbye.  Nick's mom dropped him off and said that it was the best playdate she's ever experienced (she has an older daughter).  Luke said he had a great time as well.  Hooray for a successful play date!

*Hannah had her 15 month appointment about a week ago.  She weighs 25 lbs, 8 oz which is the 81% and she's 32 1/2 inches long which is the 93%.  Poor thing had to have 2 shots--she was less than pleased to say the least.  Everything else looks great according to the doctor.

*Troy was in Houston all last week.  The kids and I had a good week considering that.  We had dinner several times with Grandpa, Grandma and Kristi and Wesley which helped a bunch.  Luke also had a 33 star week; the most he can earn is 35.  That was a fantastic part of the week :)

*Hannah has really gotten into "reading" books.  She wants to have one in her hand any time we are in her room and she also has several downstairs that she will randomly grab, sit down and look at.  It is still sometimes difficult to actually sit with her and read a book but I love that she is so interested in them now.

*Our neighborhood is having a garage sale May 4.  We have a TON of stuff that we are going to try and get rid of.  But I have to say that getting ready for a garage sale isn't much fun.

*We are supposed to have another hard freeze tomorrow night.  It's the end of April!!!  This is not supposed to happen at the end of April.  I did go to the nursery yesterday and buy some plants.  They are currently sitting in the garage until probably Wednesday when it warms up again.  I have normally planted all of my pots and any annuals in the yard by this time.  Mother Nature needs to get herself straightened out!

*Hannah's new words: boo (book), o you (love you), pee a boo (peek a boo), down, and she's counting.  Granted it's not truly understandable numbers but she'll repeat 1-4 if we say them to her.

Easter Day

We spent Easter Sunday with a whole bunch of people, 20 in fact.  Our family, my cousin's family and the Masonbrinks (long time family friends that we've celebrated Easter with since Sarah and I were little).  We went to their house for brunch after church.  Luke and Hannah had another egg hunt; we enjoyed a delicious brunch and then just hanging out a bit before it was time to go for Hannah's nap.  It is always so fun to catch up with everyone and have an egg fight.  Troy won this year.  Easter afternoon was spent relaxing at Grammy and PawPaw's.
Hannah wasn't cooperating for a picture of just her and LJ.  I had to settle for the above shot of the back of them.

Easter Weekend Activities

We spent Easter weekend in Kansas City at Grammy and PawPaw's house.  We arrived in time for dinner on Thursday night and left after breakfast on Monday.  It was a very nice long weekend.  We did a ton of stuff while we were there and had a great time doing it.
Friday morning Grammy, Luke and I went to an arts and crafts store and made sand art.  Luke really loved it! (Thanks to my friend Jen for the gift certificate.)
Friday afternoon we spent a little bit of time walking around on the Plaza and taking pictures with all of the Easter decorations.  This has been a tradition since I was a little girl.
Not the best family shot but we're all in the picture and it's the only one of just the four of us from the weekend.
Hannah likes asparagus!  She ate 4 pieces throughout the evening.
Playing ball with Grammy is lots of fun!
Getting a backrub from PawPaw is a great way to start off a nap.
Saturday morning we went to a community egg hunt.  Hannah wasn't too sure what to do at first but she figured it out and grabbed a good number of eggs.  Luke is a pro at this now and it's hard to get a focused picture of him because he was moving so fast.  Luke sat with the Easter bunny and Hannah ran as fast as she could from the Easter bunny.
Saturday afternoon was egg dying time.

School Egg Hunt

The Thursday before Easter Luke had an egg hunt at school.  Hannah came with me as I was one of the parents responsible for hiding the eggs.  It was a brisk morning but the kids all had a blast!  Luke was one of the first kids to find 12 eggs and he was so excited!  Hannah really enjoyed watching everyone run around and surprisingly she sat contentedly in her stroller the whole time.

Counting the eggs with Mrs. Griffin
This is Bella.  She will be remembered as Luke's first girlfriend.  I hear about her all the time.

March Pics

Grammy came for a visit the first of the month.  We all enjoyed having her here for a few days.
Luke is continuing to take a karate and gymnastics class on Monday mornings.  He really has a lot of fun and I've seen great improvement the last few weeks.
 Hannah loves to draw :)
After school on nice days we stay and play on the playground.  They love to go down the slide together.
Train ride at the zoo.  Luke was beyond excited the train was running while we were there.
Making goofy faces for the camera--love this sweet face!
Listening to the glow worm and sharing some love.
His first Subway sandwich (he's not really been into sandwiches until recently). It was ham, provolone, pickles, black olives and a little bit of mustard.
