WITL Saturday

It was a super chill, relaxing day around here.  H was supposed to have a soccer game but the fields were too wet from the storm so it was cancelled.  The kids wanted a pj day so that's what they did.  Troy and Luke were up way too early; thankfully Hannah slept in a bit and I really slept in (my congestion was really bad so I rested longer).  Troy made french toast for breakfast and I got some fruit ready to go with it.  Troy did the dishes while I got the kids in the shower and redressed in pj's (so we wouldn't have to worry about it later and we could have movie night).  I took a quick shower and the kids played upstairs.  The kids then needed some quiet time so they watched Sophia and How to Train Your Dragon.  The kids had a picnic lunch and Troy and I ate in the office and talked.  The kids played upstairs again.  I left to go shopping for some auction stuff--I went to Lowe's, Hobby Lobby, Tuesday Morning and TJ Maxx.  When I got home, Troy and the kids were working on the Disneyland Castle.  H wanted me to play with her so the kids and I had a tickle fight.  Then it was movie time.  I wanted the kids to see another classic so I choose the original "The Parent Trap" which I think the kids really enjoyed.  We ended up ordering bbq for dinner because I was so worn out and ate while watching the movie.  The kids went to bed after the movie was over and I cleaned up the kitchen and changed the laundry (again!).  Troy watched another documentary while I blogged.  We were in bed about 11.

It was a chilly day especially with how warm it has been--only in the upper 50's.  The kids were in good moods almost all day.  They love having lazy pj days at home because they don't happen very often any more.  I was super tired all day; I was surprised I left the house for as long as I did.  I'm so glad that LJ is able to take showers again!

Favorite Moment:
I love the giggles and squeals during tickle fights!

47 (that's probably the least I've ever taken on a WITL day)

Playing with Lego Dragons before breakfast

French toast--the kids were super excited Troy was in charge of breakfast this morning; they LOVE Troy's french toast.

Happy kiddos--french toast must have syrup, powdered sugar and mini chocolate chips

LJ's first shower since he broke his arm.

He gets all the points for emptying the dishwasher and cleaning up after breakfast.

I figured out which shoes I was going to wear with my dress for the black tie gala Troy and I are going to in May.

He made the goofy face on purpose.

She's always close by if the kids aren't around.

My purchases (again I forgot to take a pic of any of the places I went)

Lego building

My favorite pair of boots that I bought last fall--I was excited to wear them again since it was chilly.

Tickles (Maggie gets nervous for some reason when we do this.)

Troy was cold but family time watching the movie.

Berenstain Bears again

Might be the last night he sleeps in the guest bed

WITL Friday

What a wet and stormy day!  The first round of storms woke Troy and I about 2:30 but thankfully we were able to get back to sleep before the alarms went off.  I texted Troy right when I got up to make sure he didn't have any problems making it into work (heavy rain almost always causing flooding around here).  I actually got dressed in "real" clothes rather than workout clothes this morning.  Poor LJ came downstairs crying--apparently he had slipped on the stairs and fell down the last few.  The kids were amazed with all of the lightning and talked of nothing but the storm all morning.  It truly was pouring (later in the day we figured out it was raining at 4 inches an hour).  We actually sat at breakfast with the lights off in order to see the lightning better.  We left the house later than I wanted and when we were in the driveway I noticed the trash cans had been washed down the street a bit and one had tipped over because of the water rushing down the street.  I didn't have time or the desire to get totally soaked to pick it up but when I got home later some nice neighbor had picked it up for us.  Of course the drop off line at school was totally backed up because everyone was going to the overhang and even then the kids were still getting wet.  I was worried that Hannah and I were going to be late to her audiology appointment (my biggest pet peeve).  We made it with 5 minutes to spare--surprising with the weather.  Hannah's testing went well and showed no changes--hooray!  I get her back to school, talk with the ladies in the office and a few friends for a bit and check on LJ to see how his arm is doing.  Thankfully the rain had let up quite a bit.  I stop to pick up a prescription before heading home.  I walked around outside for a bit to check out what the storm had done and see how much water was in the ponds.  Then I just chilled on the couch and waited for Troy to get home (love half day Fridays).  We had lunch, cleaned up the kitchen, changed the laundry and then T left to give his presentation to the 1st graders at school.  I decide to take a nap because I was so tired.  Not long after I woke up, Troy and the kids made it home.  LJ set to work on his Lego set; Hannah went upstairs to play with Legos and Troy took a nap.  After a quick snack, LJ gets ready to go to Calvin's bday party and I pick up the house a bit before Penelope comes over.  Jen (neighbor) dropped P off and took LJ with her to the party.  Hannah and Penelope were very excited to hang out and did so fairly well.  After dinner, the girls and Troy and I watched Tangled before Jen brought LJ home and took P home.  We got the kids in bed after a short reading time and Troy watched a WWI documentary.  I fell asleep on the couch and Troy wakes me to tell me to go to bed which I did.

LJ was pretty careful with his arm because it's still fairly sensitive.  Maggie is so scared of storms, poor pup.  We are all ready for the weekend.  We needed the rain but maybe not quite in that manner. I was grateful to have taken a nap.  Hannah enjoyed being the oldest kid when Penelope was here.

Favorite Moment:
My nap and quiet time on the couch.

Troy's response

She hates thunder and storms and followed me all morning and tried to find somewhere to hide in each room we were in--this is Hannah's room.

It was PE time but with the weather they couldn't walk to the gym so they were in the cafeteria making paper airplanes and pop balls.

Almost over

Our dry bed was definitely not dry this morning--first time I've ever seen it actually look like a creek.

Muddy, very full pond behind our house

We normally walk along this sidewalk along the edge of the pond--the water was rushing down the spillway.

Dishwasher duty

I had a nap buddy.

Watching Tangled

Paint Your Art Out put the May calendar out today; I texted some friends to see if they wanted to go paint this cardinal.  I got one yes.  I'm excited about it.

Snuggle bug

We took the compress off before bed.  I was fully expecting this to look much, much worse.

LJ's books

Troy and I enjoyed my favorite dessert after the kids were in bed.  Leftover pound cake from Easter dessert is the best for strawberry shortcake.

WITL Thursday

Halfway point of WITL--hooray!  It's been a struggle this week for some reason but I know I'll be so glad I've stuck with it.

Hannah had a bit of a rough, grumpy start this morning but the kids got to school with no problems outside of that.  We talked about LJ getting his cast off later this afternoon.  I got some gas for the car and went to Target to shop for some of the auction baskets.  When I left Target it was raining which was a big bummer because I was supposed to go for a walk with my neighbor, Jen.  So I came home and took a quick shower.  Then I downloaded my pics and looked at Ali's blog.  I ate lunch and watched part of Designated Survivor before leaving to get LJ for his doctor's appointment.  He came into the office crying because he was so nervous about getting his cast off and mostly getting the pins taken out.  I tried to cheer him up by blasting some music but what worked the best was just talking about random things.  Troy beat us to the drs office and LJ was very glad to see him.  They took his cast off first which wasn't a big deal but knowing the pins were visible was not so good.  He then had x-rays which was hard because his arm felt so weird being out of the cast.  And then came the part we had all been dreading--getting the pins out.  Troy and I tried to keep Luke from completely freaking out but it didn't work.  Thankfully the surgeon got them out really fast and then it was over; Luke did scream bloody murder though.  I have never experienced that so I don't know what it feels like but the whole idea of it freaks me out.  The nurse that was helping the dr said LJ was pretty tame compared to how some kids act.  Troy went back to work and I took Luke to the Lego Store for his choice as a reward for the whole ordeal of breaking his arm.  We then went to get Hannah from school and head to gymnastics.  Luke played on his Kindle and I watched H/played on my phone while H had gymnastics.  Troy stopped to pick up pizza for dinner and beat us home.  The kids had another picnic and watched How to Train Your Dragon.  After some down time, H goes to play Legos and LJ starts on one of his new sets while I attempted to write my blog.  Troy and I notice that LJ's arm is pretty discolored and we unwrap the ace bandage and the color becomes more normal.  It was a bit of a rough night getting the kids in bed.  Luke was still upset/worried about his arm and H was really tired (typical for Thursday night).  Once everyone is settled I go back to my blog and Troy works on his presentation in the office.  I fixed lunches for the kids once I was done with my blog and head to bed.  We both turned out the light a little early.

LJ was nervous, anxious, and excited about getting his cast off.  I was so bummed it rained and couldn't go for a walk with Jen.  LJ was hurting pretty bad after his cast came off but we were SO glad it was off.  Hannah has really improved on her kartwheels and forward rolls.  It was awesome that Troy picked up dinner and we had a lazy evening.

Favorite Moment:
There wasn't one moment that stands out as a favorite today.  I did have fun shopping for the auction; helping LJ pick out his Lego sets and watching HB at gymnastics.

LJ has AR goals for reading.  He needed 10 points from Spring Break to the end of school and before this test he had 4.5 points.  So proud of him for getting it done with such a big book!

She knows exactly when I'm going to put my shoes on so she can get some face rubs.

Hey, I'm here too!

Again with more face rubs

LJ snapped this one of me driving--definitely a different perspective.

Getting the cast sawed off--much easier the second time when you know what's going to happen.

X-ray--this was a bit tough moving his arm around for the first time

He was very kind to let H help him build.

He didn't want to unwrap it again but we wanted to loosen the wrap even more.

She pulls my arm around her when we read.  It has to be in just the right spot.
